Samaritan Purse Shoebox Fiesta in the Federal Prison
I have purposely cut off the faces of most of the adults
.
For me, Sheri, this was a very emotional day. Being able to be a part of ministering to the men and their families.
Families are allowed to visit their spouses for the weekends. Not all show up each week, some only once a month or even less.
Watching the interaction between the fathers and their children really touched me.
Pastor Damian gave a short sermon about how Jesus died and paid for our sins. We are forgiven, paid for. Five prisoners gave their hearts to Christ for the first time and eight rededicated their lives to Christ. They are paid for!
Then as we gave out the shoeboxes we stamped "Paid for" on their arms. They all wanted to be sure they got their mark that they were paid for.
Two Canadian gals joined us. One of the gals help each year in her home town to receive the shoeboxes, so it was extra special to her.

About Agape's Prison Ministry
Pastor Damian started his ministry while serving time in this prison. He had given his heart to the Lord three years prior to going to prison for deeds he did before becoming a Christian.
After serving his first four years and spending every second available and listening to missionaries who came to minister in the prison he then became the pastor within the prison.
He talked the authorities into allowing the Christain inmates to build an area for a church on the roof of the prison. Over the years he gained the confidence of the prison authorities.
After his release from prison he returned to continue to minister to the prisoners still incarcerated. He has since trained others to minister on a weekly basis and he returns for special events and to encourage those still in prison.
Also from this ministry, Una Esperanza has been started to serve the families of these inmates and after the prisoner is released they can find a home and training to return to society at the center.
